Linkiness

Someone has posted a link to Strange Thoughts of a Strange Man in DeerBeards.com! This is the first time I have encountered a link to here that wasn't created by myself.

Gosh! I'm quite flattered. Thank you.

How do I know about the link? A good question. It was one of the miracles of the Internet.

Chocolate

I have refrained from adding train based comments to this blog for a while as I have been posting to the NewsShopper blog about trains, buses and commuting in general instead.

However, I thought I'd repeat this one here as it was so bloody annoying.

Someone on my train had drinking chocolate this morning. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem. What people have in their cups is their business.

However, when it ends up on the back of my leg, that is another matter entirely. I had to take the tube from Charing Cross to work, this morning, looking like I had lost control of my bowels.

Yes, that's right, I'm going to have to buy a new pair of jeans at lunchtime because someone made it look like I have shit myself.

Learning

I've just been on a seven day Microsoft MCAD course. Boy, was it intense!

Each day we had classes from 8.30am to 8pm with a half-hour lunch and a few 5 minute breaks. After the classes we had reading each night, which generally took us to 11pm and then we just went to bed. There were exams on Wednesday, Friday and today (Sunday). I passed two of them and just scraped a fail on the other one.

This was from last Sunday until this morning. It has been a long time since I have worked that hard.

Although I have passed the tests, I'm not convinced I will retain a lot of the information. It feels a lot like the cramming I used to do for exams at school and university. In fact I felt that the information that I successfully used for the exam on Wednesday wasn't there this morning. However, enough must have been there as I passed that exam as well.

Still, 7 days. I can scarcely believe that I managed it. Nor can I believe I passed two of the three exams. I feel vaguely smug, however, that I did.

I have to go back in a few weeks time to retake the exam I failed and to take the second half of the course. Part of me is thinking "oh no, not again" but I am surprised to realise that another part of me is actually looking forward to it.

Gosh, is this the long-overdue return of my work-ethic?

More tired than I thought

I just discovered my pants were on back-to-front.

Timelag

Timelag is similar to jetlag. You might think it is something that affects time-travellers when they jump from their home-time at night to another time in the morning. If ever I manage time-travel I will let you know if I get the same effect.

I get timelag when I have spent too many days going to bed late and getting up late so that my body clock feels like I should be in some other part of the world and I have just returned home.

Over the Christmas and New Year holiday period, I rarely seemed to get up before eleven most days. Today I had to be up for 6:30.

Nasty.
